Durga

Durga is a quiet and shy young girl who now lives in our Champion Home in Salem, Tamil Nadu, South India. Behind her gentle smile is a story of hardship that no child should have to endure.

Her father was falsely accused and is now in prison, leaving the family in deep distress. Her mother, a differently-abled woman, struggles every day just to survive. With limited opportunities, she takes up whatever small work she can find, earning very little. There have been many days when even providing food for her children felt like an impossible task.

Yet, in the midst of her struggles, she did not want her children to suffer under the weight of poverty and hopelessness. So, she approached us, seeking help for a better future for her daughters.

Seeing their situation, we welcomed Durga and her sister Monisha into our Champion Home.

 Durga is slowly blossoming in a safe and loving environment. She finds joy in simple things, especially playing hide and seek with her friends.

Durga also has a tender love for God’s Word. Her favourite Bible verse is Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” This verse beautifully reflects her journey—from a place of lack and uncertainty to a life where she is cared for, protected, and gently led into hope.
